Allow items to be viewed by people outside of my organization
As a Site administrator: I would like to set some Items as public; this would allow people outside of my organization to see some of the items that I have available.
This has always been a long range plan for StageStock. We are trying to see how important it is to our subscribers. If you would like this feature, please vote and leave comments on how much information you think should be shared.

This would be very helpful for our organization and we would love to have this feature implemented so we can allow external groups to view our inventory and request items from us.

I would love this! Ideally we could pick/chose for each field whether it's shared publicly.

We use a lot of volunteers. I've created a workaround by having a single volunteer user that they can all log-in with, but would rather be able to have a "public" view-only option with the same controls when granting user permissions / access.

Yes, this is definitely something we would use! We are just starting to load items into our inventory, and prioritizing those items we would like to advertise for rental. We thought this was already a feature since we can select the option to Share Publicly when we add a new item into to inventory. We're currently using another commenter's suggestion and have created a guest user account with view only permissions. However, even the view only option still allows them to see our Vendors, as well as each of the items' check in/out history, which seems like information only contributors and higher should be allowed to see. Thanks!

We have created a guest login with view only access as a work around but it would be nice to just have a portal in place with the ability for visitor to request reservation.

I agree that this would be a very helpful feature.

This would be really important to us, as we frequently share items with other local groups and we would really like to leverage our growing stock of items.
For us, I think we would want some of the following:
- Ability to mark items as "public rentable", which would make them visible to the public (seems done)
- Public 'portal' should show:
- Title
- Category (maybe?)
- Condition
- Description
- Alteration policy
- Quantity available (should handle if they are checked out or reserved)
- Rental value/cost
- Tags (this would help with search, sizing, period and other details)There might be a few other things to complete the rental workflow, but they are probably a different request

Yes, this is the first thing that has to be implemented. If I can't create a "public portal" for my rental items, what need do I have of StageStock? The whole benefit to me is not just setting up the inventory (I can do that in Access or MySQL), it's setting it up, allowing my staff to update and manage it, and THEN being able to automatically have it show up in a "Rental Portal". That is what will make me use StageStock.

This would be incredibly helpful. Currently, I have to list items in two separate places, so that customers looking to rent items can even view the items they are interested in before coming in. Adding this feature would allow me to eliminate that second site and use only StageStock for inventory viewing prior to prop pulling.

I definitely agree that this feature would be incredibly useful. Specifically listing:
-name of item
-description of item
-quantity available
-category
-ID
-rental value
