Set up email, app, and TXT notifications

🔵 VirtualCallboard

VirtualCallboard can reach you three ways: email, push notifications on the app, and, if your site has the TXT messaging add-on, text messages. Each person chooses for themselves, in their own account.

Email

  1. Click your name at the top right and choose My Account.
  2. Click Addresses in the list on the left.
  3. Set Receive Email from Site to Yes, then click Save Changes.

With that on, you'll get email for things like calls, notes, discussions, reports and announcements. If it's set to No, you won't get site email at all.

One thing that surprises people: a call only sends a notification when whoever added or changed it ticked Send Notification. That form also shows who will and won't be reached before it goes out.

Push notifications (the app)

Push notifications go to your phone once you're signed in to the VirtualCallboard app. If you're not getting them, open your phone's settings, find VirtualCallboard, and make sure notifications are allowed. Also check that notifications are switched on inside the app.

Text messages (TXT messaging)

Text messages need the TXT messaging add-on on your site, and your site's Administrator controls which kinds of notification go out as texts. To get them yourself:

  1. Click your name, choose My Account, then Phone Numbers / TXT Messaging.
  2. Add your number and set its type to Mobile. Texts go to US numbers only.
  3. Click Enable TXT Notifications.
  4. Reply YES to the text you receive. Until you do, the number shows Waiting for YES reply.

Didn't get the text? Click Re-send Start Message. If you've replied STOP, text START to the same number to pick up again. Administrators can read how the add-on is set up in Setting up the VirtualCallboard TXT/SMS (text messaging) system.

Not getting notifications?

  1. Check Receive Email from Site is set to Yes and the email address on your account is right.
  2. Look in your spam or junk folder. How to keep site email out of spam can help.
  3. Check your phone's notification settings for the app.
  4. For texts, make sure your number is set to Mobile and shows TXT Notifications as confirmed.
  5. Ask whoever sent it whether they ticked Send Notification. Your site's Manager or Administrator can also check which kinds of notification your site sends.
