Link an item to a production

An item is linked to a production when you check it out for that production. Once it's been checked out and returned, the production appears in the item's History and in the Production filter in Advanced Search.
Check it out to a production
- Select the item on Search and Check Out and click Check Out.
- Under For, choose Production and pick the show.
- Fill in the rest and save. When the show is over, check the item back in.
Open the item and look at History to see the production listed. Find items used in a past production shows how to search for them later.
Tag items by production instead
If you want to connect items to a show without checking them out, for example while you're getting your inventory uploaded, add a Description Tag to each item, such as show: A Christmas Carol. You'll need the permission to manage tags for the category.
- Type the show name in the regular search box, or
- Use Advanced Search and enter the tag under Description Tags.
Tags are whatever you decide to type, and they're searchable across your inventory. They don't create checkout history, so they work best as a way to organize stock you haven't checked out yet.
