What is an open call?
An open call is a call people can choose to take, like a crew call with six spots and a sign-up sheet. VirtualCallboard keeps a running count of how many openings are left.
You make a call open by choosing Open Call under Open or Closed Call on the Add Call screen, inviting the users who can take it, and setting the Number of people allowed to sign up.
Invited users see open calls in the Open Calls list on the Home page, with the number of openings and Accept and Decline buttons. Once someone accepts, it counts as one of their calls and the opening count drops by one.
Who is notified when people sign up is set under Administration > Site Administration > Notifications, by anyone with the Modify Site Settings permission. See Choose who is notified about open call sign-ups.
