Fix the VirtualCallboard app not working on public Wi-Fi
🔵 VirtualCallboard
If the VirtualCallboard app won't load or sign in on a coffee shop, hotel, airport or theater Wi-Fi but works fine on cellular data, the network is almost certainly the problem.
If other people on the same Wi-Fi are having trouble too, that settles it. Public networks often block or slow the secure connections the app needs, or leave you at a sign-in page that hasn't been completed.
Things to try
- Finish the Wi-Fi's own sign-in page. Open a browser and visit neverssl.com or example.com. If a terms or "Connect" page appears, accept it, then reopen the app. Until you do, apps can't reach the internet even though Wi-Fi shows as connected.
- Switch to cellular data. If the app loads, the Wi-Fi is blocking it.
- Force-close the app and reopen it. On iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and flick the app away. On Android, open the app switcher and swipe it away. Then reconnect to Wi-Fi and launch it again.
- Forget the network and rejoin. This restarts the Wi-Fi's sign-in.
- Try a different network if one is available. If the app works there, the first network's settings are the cause.
For a theater, campus or event venue
If it's your venue's Wi-Fi, pass this to whoever runs the network:
The VirtualCallboard app needs secure web (HTTPS) traffic on port 443 to your VirtualCallboard site. Some public Wi-Fi filters block or throttle it. Allowing it fixes the problem.
