Add an item
You can add an item from the website in about a minute: a title and a quantity are all it takes to save, and everything else can wait until the item is in the cart. Here's the full form, top to bottom.
Who can do this: anyone whose StageStock role in a category includes Add Items. The standard Contributor, Manager and Administrator roles have it; Viewer doesn't. You can only add items to categories where you hold such a role. If you don't see an Add Item button, ask a site Administrator to check your role.
Add the item
1. Go to Inventory > Search and Check Out.2. Click Add Item.

3. Type the Item title. This one is required.

4. Pick a Category from the list. You'll see only the categories you can add to. (Administrators create categories: see Add StageStock Categories.)

5. Pick a Condition. Your site's conditions (Good, Worn, Damaged, whatever you use) are set by the people who manage them, and the gear icon next to the list opens them if you have that access.

6. Leave ID blank and StageStock assigns the next number in the sequence, or type your own. Your own IDs can use letters, numbers, periods and hyphens. If it's already taken, you'll see "ID is not available!"

7. Write a Description. The text editor has a formatting toolbar for bold, lists and links when a description needs more than a line.

8. Optionally add a Weight and choose its unit (oz, lb, mg or g).
9. Set the Visibility:
- Internal: everyone with access to the category can see it.
- Restricted: only people whose role includes View Restricted Items can see it. It's hidden from everyone else, even people who can otherwise edit the category.
- Shared Privately and Shared Publicly: these work like Internal: anyone with access to the category can see the item.

10. Choose Alterations: May Be Altered or Do Not Alter. You can add a note about alterations and mark that note private.

11. Set the Quantity. This one is required too.
12. Enter a Replacement Value. It takes a note, which can be private.

13. Enter a Rental Value and pick the fee period. It takes a note too, and the note can be private.

14. Type the Designer's name if you want it on record.

15. Set the Date Acquired. It starts as today's date.

16. Pick a Vendor. Vendors come from your site's outside contacts, and people with permission to manage them can add more from the gear icon.

17. Add Description Tags: click into the field to see existing tags, type to filter them, and press Enter to add one. You can add as many as you like. (If you don't see this field, your role doesn't include tag management.)

18. Click Set Location to choose the space, and the position inside it, where the item lives.

19. Click Add/Edit Images to upload as many photos as you need, and choose which one is the cover.

20. Click Add/Edit Files to attach anything that isn't a photo, like a rental agreement or a build plan.

21. Click Save Changes.

What happens next
You'll see "Your item has been added successfully" and four choices:
- Add New: a blank form.
- Add Similar: choose which fields to copy from this item, handy for a run of matching items.
- Return to Search: back to Search and Check Out.
- View Item: the item's detail page.
